Inspiration at every turn.

We are committed to creating an inspiring atmosphere through the exhibition and preservation of Miesian Modernism at 11500 Ambassador. Though fully renovated the building retains a high degree of its original materials and design features including the original exterior and interior marble structural cladding, black aluminum window mullions, terrazzo floors, and distinctive crisscross escalators. From the Miesian-inspired dramatic atrium to the glass and steel skylight, we have remained true to this commitment.

A piece of history.

Architectural designers, Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) built 11500 Ambassador in 1971 for Howard Hughes and Trans World Airlines. The Modern Movement Miesian building was inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, architect and Bauhaus director. Mies is regarded as one of the pioneers of modernist architecture and is known for a style that made a statement with its extreme clarity and simplicity. Mies is often associated with a fondness for the aphorisms such as less is more and God is in the details.
